Your Job

Georgia-Pacific's Pro Business Division is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Maintenance and Engineering Department at the Camas Mill located in Camas, Washington. The role is responsible for supporting the mill through managing new engineering projects that support infrastructure, maintenance, and process improvements. The role also has responsibility for the maintenance of reliability of the plant and process equipment. When needed, this will involve capital project management.

What You Will Do

* Drive project teams to successfully deliver the scope of work on budget and on time throughout detailed design, construction, turnover to operations, and closeout.

* Design mechanical systems to improve operations safety and innovate product technology.

* Guide and participate in the development, evaluation, recommendation, and selection of mechanical technologies with cross functional teams.

* Build relationships and share knowledge to provide platform solutions and improved standards implementation.

* Lead continuous improvement projects focused on identifying, investigating, recommending, and implementing equipment improvements, new systems, and process changes to boost productivity, yield, quality, and cost-efficiency.

* Perform machine mechanical component and system design, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient operation.

* Focus on machine functional safety, apply safety risk reduction standards to designs, and validate safety systems in operation.

* Oversee compliance inspections of fixed and process equipment and infrastructure.

* Less than 10% travel

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.

* Experience working in mechanical engineering, reliability, or maintenance fields.

* Knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of the design, construction, operation, reliability, and maintenance of continuous or discrete manufacturing processes.

* CAD experience

* Experience with manufacturing equipment design or operation.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 5-7 or more years of experience in mechanical engineering
  • Experience working within the pulp and paper industry, including paper machines, converting equipment, conveyors, packaging, or material handling.
  • 3D CAD experience
  • Project Management experience and/or Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Structural engineering experience
  • Reliability training and experience

    For this role, we anticipate paying $110,000- $135,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
