Phillips-Medisize, a Molex company, is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead our Costa Mesa, CA facility.

Our Team

The Engineering Supervisor will provide direct leadership to our engineers and techs on the sustaining team while driving continuous improvement in engineering practices.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the manufacturing engineer group by: managing performance; addressing disciplinary issues; hiring; assisting people with career development; communicating information to direct reports, passing information up the management chain and fostering open communication; ensuring team is aligned with and accomplishing goals/objectives; administrative processing; and, maintaining trust and confidentiality while fostering a team environment
  • Prepare estimate of costs involved in changing from present to new methods with little technical direction and under general supervision only
  • Solve complex problems with flow in present manufacturing processes
  • Project management; initiation, planning and execution
  • Communicate effectively with external and internal customers
  • Keep management informed regarding project status
  • Responsible for ensuring that corrective actions are kept current and that they identify root causes
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and work instructions are adhered to consistently and equitably for all areas led
  • Actively participate in quote reviews and tooling meetings to ensure programs meet expectations
  • Lead and apply problem solving initiatives, such as lean manufacturing and six sigma projects
  • Stay current on new and/or updated technology, manufacturing practices and processes related to the core business within the facility
  • Work with tooling in the planning of new tools and fixture designs
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, manufacturing and tool room
  • Utilize good judgment; show strong business acumen, decision quality, intellectual horsepower, perspective, and problem solving
  • Proactively identify safety concerns and design safety into the manufacturing process

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and 5 years applied engineering experience OR 7 years of applied engineering experience with 2 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading people and teams, both directly and indirectly
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with manufacturing using robotics and/or automated systems
  • Experience with FDA registered medical device manufacturing

This role is not eligible for VISA sponsorship.

For this role, we anticipate paying $109,000 - $150,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
