Georgia-Pacific Consumer Manufacturing Group is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Manufacturing Engineer - Paper Machine role supporting the Consumer Products Group Operations located in Muskogee, OK.

As a Manufacturing Engineer- Paper Machine at Georgia-Pacific, your primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient and effective operation of paper machine manufacturing processes. Your role involves designing, developing, and improving manufacturing systems to optimize productivity, quality, and safety.

This position will work closely with the operations, reliability, and maintenance departments in the development of long-term asset strategies. The Muskogee facility uses integrated technology to manufacture tissue and paper towel products in a progressive production environment.

What You Will Do

  • Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture
  • You will be responsible for designing and improving manufacturing processes for paper machines, including equipment layout, workflow, and standard operating procedures
  • Analyze existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing lean manufacturing principles
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine equipment specifications, select appropriate machinery, and manage the procurement process.
  • Evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting issues, and identify root causes of problems.
  • Work closely with operators to optimize machine performance, reduce downtime, and improve overall equipment efficiency (OEE)
  • In line with Georgia Pacific commitment to continuous improvement, you will lead or participate in projects aimed at enhancing quality, operational efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Assist with the implementation of new technologies, conducting process audits, and driving a culture of innovation and problem-solving
  • You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe working environment and adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Identify potential safety hazards, implement preventive measures, and promote a culture of safety awareness among the manufacturing team
  • Maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes, equipment specifications, and performance metrics
  • Analyze data to generate reports, identify trends, and provide recommendations for process optimization

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Knowledge of paper manufacturing processes, equipment and industry standards
  • Prior experience working within a paper/pulp manufacturing, industrial or military environment
  • Practical knowledge of paper machine operations, process optimization and quality control
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to apply lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and experience implementing safety protocols

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience using Autocad (2D and 3D CAD programs, Solidworks, or other)
  • Experience with root cause analysis and process control techniques
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvements initiatives
  • Ability to manage projects effectively, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or OHSA certifications
