We have an exciting opportunity for a Sensory and Consumer Scientist in our consumer products division at our Neenah Technical Center (NTC) in Neenah, WI. We are looking for you to join our Innovation and Product Development team. Your role focuses on researching consumer perception, behavior, sensory experience, and preferences so product developers can unlock differentiation in their products and optimize the user experience, resulting in compelling claims and superior product performance. What You Will Do

  • Leading the execution and maintenance activities of the established trained / descriptive panel: recruitment, screening, training, panelist maintenance, reference inventory maintenance, scheduling panelists, leading descriptive sessions, sample evaluations, data analysis and report writing.
  • Becoming familiar with the range of sensory profiles and attributes seen in products across categories.Providing continuous improvement insights to ensure robust and accurate panel data and supporting new panel development.
  • Facilitating internal user experience testing of products across categories.
  • Executing a wide range of consumer studies including category benchmarking, prototype testing, and foundational research, through HUTs and/or CLTs while supporting development of study protocols, screeners, questionnaires, and stimulus, including guidance for product preparation and handling, to maintain consistency and accuracy in data collection; liaising with external research vendors on study parameters and elevating issues.Influencing product development and business teams by transforming data into insights to drive decisions and by communicating key findings to stakeholders in an effective manner..
  • Working closely as part of an integrated team of product developers to optimize user experiences, identifying meaningful points of product differentiation, and translating those insights into market-relevant claims.
  • Collaborating across consumer products teams

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Degree in Food Science or Psychology or other related fields acceptable
    • Consideration: BS with minimum of 2 years of experience in a wide range of sensory analysis and consumer (qualitative, quantitative) testing techniques and their applications; OR Master's degree in Sensory and Consumer Science with 0-2+ years of experience
  • Foundational knowledge and experience with sensory and consumer study design and analysis

What Will Put You Ahead

  • At least 2 years of experience in a role researching sensory and consumer science.
  • UC Davis Applied Sensory and Consumer Science Certificate or a relevant Sensory and Consumer Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Experience leading a trained panel.
  • Experience conducting sensory or consumer tests.
  • Experience analyzing a variety of diverse data sets using statistical software.
  • Experience presenting research plans and findings to a wide variety of stakeholders.
