What You Will Do

GP is seeking a Portfolio Manager to fill a key position as a member of the Software Engineering & Integration team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within a very dynamic, cross functional team where they are expected to use their initiative, judgment, and sense of urgency to successfully forecast and execute resource plans. A strong performer in this role will effectively apply our culture and PBM management philosophy to excel at:

  • Create tools and processes that enable the Portfolio Management practice for SE&I and integration with other IT functions.
  • Help shape the future roadmap of technology projects for SE&I that enable value-creation for GP.
  • Institute quarterly planning processes for all SE&I capabilities and consolidate roadmap definition practices.
  • Work with the SE&I Leadership team to enhance existing planning and execution processes, utilizing Agile Lifecycle management tooling to drive prioritization and decision-making.
  • Lead regular portfolio intake, prioritization and resourcing conversations, leading and guiding IT and business leaders through the venture summary and decision-making processes for new demands, ensuring strategic and resource alignment across the SE&I teams.
  • Manages the SE&I Enterprise Project Portfolio via progress reporting and milestones, escalating risks and issues as identified and tracking portfolio performance as well as opportunities for optimization.
  • Track and report on planned, actual and projected portfolio value generation and contribution to the organizational results, ensuring the team is focused on high-value work and driving superior returns.
  • Conduct reviews quarterly with senior IT Leaders and other relevant stakeholders to validate and assess the project portfolio, including planned and ongoing initiatives.
  • Partners with other Portfolio Managers at Georgia-Pacific, collaborating to coordinate demands across teams and establishing common processes and practices.
  • Be an active coach for SE&I Leaders on Portfolio Management, collaborating with them to execute the Portfolio Management functions and developing training programs targeted at key functions that enable the capability.
  • Act as the Planview administrator and SME for SE&I.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience managing Software Engineering projects and programs.
  • Experience in Portfolio Management systems such as Planview and Work Management tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Experience participating in or implementing Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Familiar with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of products, including Outlook, Teams, Excel and Copilot.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Familiarity with Project and Program financial concepts such as NPV, tracking capital vs operational expenses, etc.
  • Experience developing and managing processes to effectively manage global teams with flexible capacity.
  • Experience utilizing data from Portfolio Management, Demand Forecasting, and other tools to make strategic prioritization and staffing decisions.
  • Project Management, Scrum Master, SAFe, or other relevant certifications.
  • Solid understanding of Software Engineering techniques, methodologies and best practices.
