Description

The Division of Cardiology at the Heart Institute at Stony Brook University Hospital is recruiting an ascending or senior Cardiovascular Physician Scientist / Scientist with a promising research program to join its Cardiology Division at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, DO, or DO/PhD.



  • They will contribute to and lead the research aims of their program in the Heart Institute, sustaining an externally-funded research program consistent with the visions of the Heart Institute and Department of Medicine.
  • The focus of cardiovascular research is open and may utilize basic, translational, and/or clinical approaches in areas such as transcriptional regulation, determination and differentiation, genomics, molecular or genetic science, cell-cycle regulation, cell biology, cardio-immunology, pharmacology, physiology, computational modeling and AI.
  • The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the teaching and fellowship missions of the Division of Cardiology, supporting the education and training of post-doctoral and cardiology Fellows, graduate students, house staff and non-physician professionals.
  • The majority of the successful applicant's time will protected for research. The provision of clinical cardiovascular services will be based on prior agreement.

Qualifications

PHYSICIAN SCIENTIST:

Required Qualifications: MD, DO, MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Board Certified/Eligible in Cardiology. Experience in clinical care and clinical, translational or basic research in the field of cardiology. Will be responsible for research, patient care and teaching.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated publication and active funding track record in clinical, translational, and/or basic research is preferred. The ideal candidate will have exhibited a strong commitment to advancing scientific knowledge of the field of cardiology, as well as demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical, educational, and academic excellence.

SCIENTIST:

Required Qualifications: PhD, MD, MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Experience in clinical, translational or basic research in the field of cardiology.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated publication and active funding track record in clinical, translational, and/or basic research is preferred.
