The College of Business at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in analytics beginning in Fall 2025. The rank is Assistant Professor. This is a full-time position in the Operations and Decision and Analytics area of Management. The position starts on September 1, 2025. Salary, teaching load, and research support are competitive and commensurate with other major research institutions with no doctoral program. Both new Ph.D. graduates and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. Hiring for this position is subject to final budgetary approval by the university.

Responsibilities & Requirements:
The College of Business (CoB) at Stony Brook University is seeking a colleague who will significantly contribute to the intellectual environment in the Operations and Decision Analytics area through their expertise in research, teaching, and services. Key responsibilities and requirements include:



  • Conduct high-quality research that leads to publications in top field-specific and interdisciplinary journals, enhancing the reputation of the COB.
  • Participation in college administrative and committee assignments, while also providing valuable service to the Stony Brook University community.
  • Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in both traditional and online settings, contributing to the ever-advancing quality of education.
  • All candidates are expected to teach in the area of Analytics and/or Operations and Supply Chain Analysis and to contribute to the services and professional missions of the College.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in analytics or a closely related field (e.g., information systems (IS), analytics, operations, management (OM), management science, data science, computer science, statistics, etc.) from an accredited institution. A proven track record of active research showing the ability or potential to publish high-quality research in premier business journals. Proficiency in emerging methodologies, specifically including AI, applicable to business and management. An excellent teaching record (if applicable), at undergraduate and/or graduate levels, analytics-related courses (e.g., information systems, operations management, database, business statistics, data mining, machine learning, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
An outstanding track record and/or strong potential to publish in prestigious FT-50 OM/IS journals (e.g., Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, etc.), and/or in leading journals across different disciplines (e.g., finance, accounting, marketing, etc.). Advanced expertise in AI, machine learning, large language models, and their innovative applications in business and management. Experience teaching in different formats (e.g., in-person, online, and hybrid), at the undergraduate and/or MBA/MS levels. Demonstrated ability and/or potential to secure funding for research and/or educational programs
