Stony Brook University: Health Sciences: Renaissance School of Medicine: Surgery Location Stony Brook, New York Open Date Jun 27, 2024 Deadline Nov 22, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will work with physicians and nurses in the practice to provide medical treatment plans for Cardiothoracic patients in the hospital and outpatient setting. Will collaborate with nurse managers, clinical nurses, discharge team, and medical staff to plan, implement and evaluate pertinent change in practice and health care delivery. Will facilitate patient movement through the system and efficient use of resources through interdepartmental collaboration. Will coordinate coverage for time off unit, time off, and off-hours; and will write orders which are in accord with current guidelines. This position is in an outpatient setting. Job Duties & Essential Functions:
Schedule: 10-hour shifts / 4 Days a week, with alternating days off and no major holidays or weekends. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Nurse Practitioner: Current NYS RN license. Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing Practice or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner and certification as a Nurse Practitioner in adult health and/or family health nurse practitioner. Excellent communication skills. Physician Assistant: NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited school of Physician Assistants. Excellent communication skills.
