The duties of a Team Lead require a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy. Drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet these established criteria are necessary for successful job performance. The job environment is structured, and job expectations are clear. While the pace of the work is faster than average, quality is never compromised. The focus of communication and organizational relationships is based on technical expertise. The work requires specialized technical problem solving and ingenuity while working within approved organizational systems and technology, and the demonstration of the values of integrity, quality and caution. New ideas and concepts are also important but will be quickly, yet carefully analyzed and tested before communication and adoption. If the job involves managing others, there is a need for someone who can exercise the necessary authority to assure policies and procedures are followed and time frames are met. At the same time, it will be necessary to give subordinates structured opportunity to develop their own expertise and capability for quality work to assure effective delegation and shared responsibility for work output. It is expected that coaching and training support for achieving effective delegation will be required. The position encompasses a defined span of control and opportunity for someone who engenders trust, demonstrates a sense of urgency and assures consistent achievement of quality standards. The work requires making decisions that support company guidelines authoritatively and quickly.

As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading engineering teams from product discovery through delivery. Your teams will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, documenting, and maintaining web and back end software solutions. As a team lead, you will serve as a mentor for your team members. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks including coordinating and driving product features, and managing outage and emergency situations with your team and internal stakeholders. You will help team translate business requirements and wireframes into architecture, design and code components. You will convert technical requirements into solution design, and help the team implement, test and deliver the solution. You will ensure the team creates and maintains documentation for the solutions built. You will identify, triage, and resolve errors and defects independently and/or by collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will drive product features feasibility, estimating complexity and guiding the team on new product features. You will create a positive and progressive engineering culture with focus on engineering metrics, code quality, champion and promote best practices and standards creating best in class engineering teams.

Furthermore, as a Team Lead, you will work closely with product owners, business analysts, UX designers, architecture, and quality teams delivering product features and priorities. You will also assist with workflow planning processes including design, development, testing and delivery of solutions, participate in the research and evaluation of potential new vendors, and stay current with up-and-coming technologies, pricing and user applicability with current vendors. You will actively work on reducing technical debt and measuring the success of delivered features.

Your role also entails:



  • serve as the primary contact for key applications and general knowledge resource for production and development staff,
  • follow policies and procedures,
  • complete administrative tasks correctly and on time,
  • support the company's goals and values,
  • participate in coordination of disaster recovery planning and preparation,
  • build a great rapport with fellow associates, and treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position,
  • and perform other duties as assigned.


All associates are expected to maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.

Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications.



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in full stack development with proficiency in multiple programming languages such as JavaScript (Node.js, React, Angular, etc.), preferred in a bank setting.
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams


  • Strong understanding and application of software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles, design patterns, and coding standards.
  • Ability to refactor codebase to improve readability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and ORM technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency with writing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests to ensure code reliability and stability.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications: To be considered an ideal candidate, you should possess some of the following qualifications:



  • Advanced degree or certification related to field
  • 12+ years of relevant job experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • Experience developing modern frontend apps using React framework
  • Knowledge of modern authentication and authorization mechanisms
  • Excellent presentation skills for communicating both business-oriented solutions and advanced technical concepts
  • Extensive experience with vendor partnerships and resolution of complex system issues
  • Experience in the FinTech space
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Experience building teams ground-up and setting strong engineering culture

Work Environment:



  • Remote office environment, manager permitting, with traditional hours
  • Sitting for extended periods of time (typically no longer than 8 hours)
  • Must be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically no longer than 8 hours)
  • Must be able to work overtime to the extent necessary
  • Must be able to travel - estimated at 5% to 10% of the time
