Senior Design Project Manager

The Senior Design Project Manager leads and manages the design process for construction projects, from concept through to completion. This role requires strong leadership and project management skills, effective communication, and a deep understanding of both design and construction processes. The senior design manager is responsible for coordinating the efforts of multiple stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring that all projects meet project requirements, are delivered on time, stay within budget, and maximize client goals.

Essential Functions
  • Leadership & Management: Oversee the design team, providing proactive direction and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Project Coordination: Manage the entire design process, including concept development, design refinement, and final delivery.
  • Client Relations: Serve as the design point of contact for clients, ensuring their vision is realized through effective project management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
  • Budget Management: Proactively coordinate the design progression to budget alignment process and workflow between the design consultants and in house estimating team to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. Identify design inefficiencies and value management opportunities continuously.
  • Schedule Management: Lead creation of the integrated delivery schedule which overlays and optimizes design package production required for: entitlements, estimating and constructability reviews, client review milestones, early equipment purchases, subcontractor procurement, fast-track permit sets, etc.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure design integrity and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring projects remain on track.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance on design standards, sustainability practices, and regulatory compliance.

Required Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in design and project management, with a proven track record in delivering complex projects.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Revizto).
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
    • Thorough understanding of building codes, safety standards, LEED (and other sustainability programs), and construction processes.
    • Financial acumen, including budget management and cost control.
    • Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in managing large-scale projects.
  • Licensed Architect or Engineer and Certification in Project Management (PMP), Lean Certification, or similar credentials.
  • Experience with sustainable design practices and LEED accreditation.
