Solution Architect Role -

GIS/ESRI Specialist

Solution Architects play a leading role in establishing solutions and architectures for the implementation of innovative business-critical systems, with a special focus on geospatial technologies. They work hand in hand with agile teams from product inception to delivery through ongoing product evolution. They are expected to provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight in supporting successful implementations. As technical leaders across one or more teams, Solution Architects are responsible for defining, refining, and delivering system and application architecture. They ensure that geospatial solutions are well-designed, secure, performant, able to meet evolving business needs, and comply with established enterprise guidelines. Solution Architects work within a supportive and collaborative software engineering community.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of application development experience with large scale and or complex business applications in agile or fast-paced development environments.

  • 7+ years leading the architecture and implementation of geospatial and business applications from concept through production.

  • Technology:

  • Our tech stack includes the following, though candidates with experience in other similar platforms are encouraged to apply:

  • Expertise in ESRI Solution Architecture: Hands-on experience in implementing, managing, and customizing ArcGIS Enterprise and related tools to support spatial analysis, visualization, and geospatial data management.

  • Skilled in geospatial technologies and tools: Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Web AppBuilder, ArcGIS Experience Builder, and other ESRI applications to create maps, perform spatial analysis, and develop geospatial solutions.

  • Experience with Map Services and Web Mapping: Experience in creating and managing map services, designing web maps, and integrating GIS services into business applications.

  • Proficiency in APIs and SDKs: Experience with ESRI's REST API, ArcGIS API for Python, Javascript, and ArcGIS Runtime SDKs for developing custom geospatial applications and plugins.

  • Proficient in Python: Strong programming skills in Python with a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming concepts.

  • Proficient in SQL: Experience in writing and optimizing queries, database design, working with various relational database management systems (RDBMS), and integrating SQL with other programming languages for data manipulation and analysis.

  • Skilled in Azure Databricks Analytics: Experience in designing, implementing, and managing data solutions, optimizing performance, and leveraging the integrated environment for data warehousing, big data, and advanced analytics.

  • Proficient in data modeling: Expertise in designing and implementing logical and physical data models, normalization and denormalization techniques, and ensuring data integrity and consistency across databases.

  • Experienced in Agile methodologies: Skills in backlog refinement, breaking down Epics into User Stories and PBIs, prioritizing tasks, and collaborating within cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

  • Proficient in well-architected principles on Azure: Strong understanding of cost optimization, security, performance efficiency, operational excellence, and reliability to design and implement robust solutions on Azure.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong track record as a Software Engineer.

  • Ability to quickly establish deep insight into new technologies and trends that relate to geospatial development.

  • Experience with Agile Development, with the ability to be a technical partner to Product Owners, a technical leader to development teams, and an effective advocate for enterprise standards.

  • Expert in soliciting, understanding, and driving insight into complex business requirements, especially in geospatial contexts.

  • Expert in work breakdown and work sequencing, with the ability to lead teams through breaking large geospatial business problems into logical, smaller, incrementally deliverable pieces.

  • Able to present and communicate complex geospatial technology concepts and issues to non-technological stakeholders.

  • Ability to understand, implement, recommend, and teach best practices and patterns of geospatial application development.

Certifications Sought:

  • Azure (AZ-900, DP-900, DP-203).

  • ESRI Technical Certifications are a plus (such as, ArcGIS Desktop Associate, ArcGIS Enterprise Associate, etc.).
