M365 Engineer (Tier 2)

Introduction

We are seeking a skilled and experienced M365 Tier 2 Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a fully remote role, allowing you to work from anywhere while supporting our global operations. As an M365 Tier 2 Engineer, you will provide advanced engineering support for cloud-based workloads in Microsoft 365 GCC High. You will be responsible for resolving complex issues, optimizing system performance, and ensuring seamless operation of our M365 environment. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining our high standards of security, compliance, and operational efficiency.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide Tier 2 support for Microsoft 365 GCC High, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Power Platform, OneDrive, Security & Compliance, and Identity.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to M365 services, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to users.

  • Collaborate with Tier 1 support to escalate and manage high-priority incidents, providing expert guidance and solutions.

  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

  • Manage and maintain M365 configurations, ensuring they align with best practices and organizational policies.

  • Develop solutions integrating Microsoft Azure commercial clouds (public and government community) with services hosted on-premises and in other clouds.

  • Develop and maintain software solutions/scripts to support automation of cloud configuration and administration.

  • Support security audits, accreditation, and certification processes, and obtaining authority to operate (ATO) for cloud-based system architectures.

  • Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and proactively implement improvements to enhance service reliability and efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures, configurations, and operational processes.

  • Assist in the deployment and management of security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Work closely with other IT teams to support integrations and migrations related to M365 services.

  • Stay updated with the latest M365 features, updates, and industry trends, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Additional Information:
  • This is a full-time position that would fall into 1 of 3 shifts in a 24x7 support delivery model. We are seeking individuals who are comfortable working night and weekend shifts.

Location and Travel Details

This is a remote position with occasional travel (if needed).

Security Clearance and Citizenship Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Required for This Opportunity
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in M365 administration and support, with a focus on cloud-based workloads.

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 GCC High, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Power Platform, OneDrive, Security & Compliance, and Identity.

  • Proficiency in M365 administrative tasks, such as user and license management, configuration, and policy management.

  • Strong understanding of M365 security and compliance features, including data loss prevention (DLP), eDiscovery, and conditional access policies.

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and administrative tasks.

  • Familiarity with Azure Active Directory (AAD) and its integration with M365 services.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a remote team environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate, or equivalent, are highly desirable.

Nice to have skills
  • Experience with hybrid environments and migrations from on-premises to cloud.

  • Knowledge of other Microsoft cloud services, such as Azure, Intune, and Dynamics 365.

  • Strong experience with API Security, Container Security, and Azure Cloud Security.

  • Understanding of public and private cloud concepts such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

  • Experience with automation to Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

  • Experience with Cloud, Windows/SQL Server, Application Support, PowerShell scripting, and virtualization.

  • Ability to manage Azure subscriptions and resources, implement and manage storage, deploy and manage virtual machines, configure and manage virtual networks, and manage identities.

  • Experience with developing scalable architectures using API management, microservice frameworks, PaaS, and container orchestration systems.

  • Understanding of ITIL principles and practices.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
