Job Description: The Health and Wellness Assistant assists the Physical Therapist, Physical TherapistAssistant, Occupational Therapist, or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in tasks necessary for the therapists to deliver physical therapy or occupational therapy to infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with a variety of physical and mental capabilities. The H & W assistant is also responsible for independently setting up, the treatment area, assisting in the delivery of restorative programs to maintaining function for the patient population that is not appropriate for formal therapy. This person is responsible for directing and instructing other care givers in restorative exercise programs. The H & W assistant will also be in charge of the independent exercise program, including marketing efforts for the program. Scope

Follows "Patients' Rights Policy" at all times. Demonstrates knowledge of information management as appropriate Education Minimum two years in a health and wellness related field preferred. Core classes in physics, medical physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology, strength and conditioning, anatomy and physiology, CPR and first aid, and medical terminology, a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel and power point preferred. Certification Required: BLS certification required within 60 days of hire LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Requirements: Excellent communication skillsOperate computers, telephones, office equipment, including manipulating paper requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.See and read computer monitors and documents.
