Job Description:

Our caregivers work together to provide a collaborative, friendly environment and provide quality and individualized service.Our Claims Solution Specialists leverage their understanding of the professional revenue cycle to perform final validation and resolution of professional claims issues not requiring coding expertise. They perform manual charge entry and participate with Claims Solution Specialist-Coders in the continuous improvement efforts focused on increasing the efficiency and accuracy of the professional claims process. Scope

As a Charge Capture Specialist for the ED you need to know how to
Apply SCL Charge Master, Compliance and regulatory guidelines to identify and appropriately charge for all procedures and supply charges
Partner with physicians, clinical departments and others to clarify documentation questions, as needed utilizing SCL standardized logging and communication process
Identify and communicates deficiencies and trends to the ED leadership and Revenue Practice Team
Monitor and resolve assigned Epic work queues and billing related correspondence according to the Charge Capture and Accountability Policy
Identify charge issues/opportunities and works with departments to make recommendations, resolve issues and enhance charge capture and compliance
Instruct clinicians, (one on one or in groups) on the charge capture process in Epic and how accurate documentation relates to accurate charge capture
Participate in continuing education programs to maintain an understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, disease processes and surgical techniques to support the effective application of coding guidelines and maintains professional credentials required by this position.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent, required
Additional coursework in medical terminology, or anatomy and physiology, required
Associates or Bachelors Degree in healthcare related field, preferred
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Professional (RHIT), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or currently enrolled in a coding certificate program that must be completed within 9 months of employment, required
Minimum of one (1) year of professional or facility healthcare office, medical record, technical or coding experience, required
At least two (2) years of experience, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Medical billing experience Preferred Qualifications: Professional coding (CPT, ICD, HCPCS) experienceRoot cause analysis experience Physical Requirements Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information. Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. See and read computer monitors and documents. Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
