Job Description: Position Highlights:
A Brief Overview: This position provides quality clinical expressive therapy services to patient populations and their families/significant others. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide licensed therapeutic groups including: art/dance/music, psycho-education, social skills, verbal process, and structured leisure to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
What you will do:
Provides individual and group expressive therapy, applying the therapeutic concepts of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Transition Assessment Profile (TTAP). Conducts daily group assessments, and individual assessments as needed, to identify issues for treatment focus and reports in interdisciplinary team meetings. Documents therapy performed, interventions, patient's clinical status, progress, and treatment recommendations in patient's chart. Contributes to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the patient's specialized treatment plan. Demonstrates an understanding, and adheres to all procedures and legislation, which apply to patients cared for in a Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment facility. Provides orientation and mentorship of new employees. Supervises practicum students and communicates directly with graduate programs regarding student progress. Utilizes a comprehensive knowledge of community resources and medical allied staff expertise to assure an appropriate discharge is implemented.
What you will need:
Master's Degree in relevant expressive therapy field Knowledge of developmental psychology, disease pathology and clinical needs of assigned population Ability to maintain information which is highly confidential Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation Must be able to demonstrate self-control in volatile or hostile situations Must be able to set therapeutic limits and maintain therapeutic distance with clients; maintains therapeutic boundaries with patients during treatment and following discharge
Preferred Education, Skills and/or Experience:
Required License and/or Certification:
Current State of Illinois Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) licensure Current certification in one of the following based on specialty:
For Art Therapy: Registered Art Therapist (ATR) For Dance/Movement Therapy: Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT) certification For Music Therapy: Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 30 days of start date into position
