Job Summary:
The Department of Surgical Sciences of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time or part-time Instructor in Small Animal Surgery in the areas of soft tissue and orthopedics. The successful candidate will join the Small Animal Surgery Section, which is comprised 6 full-time ACVS Diplomates, 6 residents/interns, and a dynamic group of certified veterinary technicians. The UW Veterinary Care teaching hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for arthroscopy, 3T MRI, CT, ultrasound, 3D printing, and force-platform gait analysis. The Department and School are interested in developing our innovative programs, including translational clinical research studies in orthopedic genetics, musculoskeletal imaging, arthroscopic surgery, integrated trauma care, 3D printing, limb deformity correction, total joint arthroplasty, and virtual mechanical testing using finite element modeling. Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include providing clinical service in the teaching hospital, participation in clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, residents and interns, and pursuit of clinical research. Clinical duties include leading resident-based or student-based rounds that involve approximately 5 hours per week. Student case-based rounds are conducted by faculty in conjunction with residents when the faculty are assigned to clinic duties. American College of Veterinary Surgeons or European College of Veterinary Surgeons Board certified or Board Eligibility with completion of residency in small animal surgery at the time of start date.
