Job Summary:

This position plays an integral role in conducting independent research, providing glaucoma patient care at UW Health Clinics in Madison, and teaching learners in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Additionally, this position may include patient care duties at UW Regional Services Clinics. The candidate has the option of combining glaucoma clinical care with comprehensive ophthalmology or other sub-specialty eye care.


Responsibilities:

This position will:

-Develop and establish an independent research program
-Pursue and obtain extramural funding for research program
- Provide high quality patient care at UW Health Madison and potentially Regional Services Clinics in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, including medical and surgical care
-Participate in resident/medical student/fellowship education in the clinic and in the operating room.
-Perform administrative duties as appropriate.
-Participate in professional, public and university service as appropriate.

The successful candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

The successful candidate will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
MD/DO or equivalent required.


Qualifications:

-Residency training in an U.S. Ophthalmology Accredited Program is required.
-Completed Glaucoma Fellowship is required by start date.
-Experience in conducting research, clinical care, and teaching.
-Candidates for professor and associate professor ranks must meet criteria for tenure at the University of Wisconsin.


License/Certification:

Required
MD - Physician - State Licensure
WI Medical License is required by start date.
Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology by start date.

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
