Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine seeks applications for BC/BE cardiologist to join a dynamic academic program, with opportunities to create a unique clinical practice and engage in teaching and clinical research at a world-class university. The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a cardiologist to join our exceptional multidisciplinary Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program.

Members of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine strive to maintain excellence in clinical care, education, and research. The division recognizes that excellence in congenital cardiovascular medicine and surgery requires a well-coordinated team approach to care. Important contributors to divisional activities include physicians (specialists in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, critical care medicine, anesthesiology and perfusion, and high-risk obstetricians), nurse practitioners, registered nurses, sonographers, exercise physiologists, and our patients, their families, and their referring physicians. We strive for excellence in service and clarity in communication with our patients, their families and with their physicians.


Responsibilities:

For appointments hired as Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor: Position responsibilities for patient care at UW Health locations, includes inpatient cardiovascular medicine service and night call; outpatient cardiovascular services including clinic coverage at Madison based clinics as well as regional sites based on the needs of the division; diagnostic cardiovascular testing, including but limited to, electrocardiograms, ambulatory monitors, transthoracic echocardiography, and a variety of modalities of stress testing and non-invasive imaging. Responsibilities will also include providing clinical teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.

For appointments hired as Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS) or Professor (CHS): Position responsibilities for patient care at UW Health locations, includes inpatient cardiovascular medicine service and night call; outpatient cardiovascular services including clinic coverage at Madison based clinics as well as regional sites based on the needs of the division; diagnostic cardiovascular testing, including but limited to, electrocardiograms, ambulatory monitors, transthoracic echocardiography, and a variety of modalities of stress testing and non-invasive imaging. Responsibilities will also include providing clinical teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. Time is expected to be spent on clinical research activities and academic service.

Cardiovascular Medicine provides faculty with ample opportunities for medical education and scholarship.

Qualifications:

For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.


License/Certification:

Required
Must be eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License

Required
Board eligible or certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology by start date with expertise preferably board eligibility or certification in Adult Congenital Heart Disease


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 70% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you choose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position, neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees.
