Position Highlights:

  • SIGN ON BONUS: $5000.00 paid in (2) increments after 3 and 12 months (all other Bonus Parameters apply)
  • Elmhurst Hospital 155 E. Brush Hill Elmhurst, IL.
  • Full Time 1.0 FTE
  • Hours: 7:30am- 4pm Monday-Friday

A Brief Overview:

  • The Cytotechnologist plays a critical role in the early detection and diagnosis of diseases, particularly cancer, by examining cellular samples for abnormalities. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in cytology to assess specimens, collaborate with pathologists, and contribute to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.

What you will do:

  • Performs microscopic examinations of cellular specimens, including Pap smears, fine-needle aspirations, and other cytological samples, to detect abnormal cell changes.
  • Accurately identifies and classifies cellular abnormalities, documenting findings and preparing detailed reports for pathologists.
  • Adheres to strict quality control measures and ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. Identify and address issues promptly.
  • Collaborates with pathologists and laboratory staff to discuss and confirm diagnoses, share findings, and provide recommendations for further testing or follow-up.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, ensuring that it is in optimal working condition while reports any equipment malfunctions or issues.
  • Maintains thorough and accurate records of specimen processing, test results, and quality control measures.
  • Stays current with advances in cytology and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

What you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • 1 Year work experience in a Cytology laboratory required.
  • Certified Cytologist (CT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Required
  • Certified Technologist in Cytogenetics (CG) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
