Position Highlights:
Job Summary The Surgical Simulation Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Surgical Simulation lab. They oversee all curriculum training and Internal & external course activities to the development of future healthcare professionals. Assists with planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating education programs that incorporate simulation techniques for all levels of personnel. They provide an educational environment for Physicians, Residents, Medical Students, Nursing and pre-hospital personnel. Will provide logistical support to any ancillary department who wish to use the simulators or simulation center. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong technical aptitude and excellent interpersonal skills. The Simulation Specialist must manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work collaboratively with diverse teams, and provide timely solutions to technical challenges. What you will do Assists with staff development to promote professional growth and education via the simulation lab education activities Provide education for medical students and residents as dictated by curriculum. Provide various procedure labs for medical students and residents Proctor for FLS and FES testing Partner with Medical Simulation team for support of various labs. Coordinates Internal & External groups for surgical lab courses Assists with the care of animal models, in coordination with the Veterinary Technician Assists with pre-anesthesia preparations, intubation and IV start Calculates and administers medications Assists with monitoring the animal model throughout the procedure Maintains basic knowledge of the GCSI animal Care Protocol Maintains accurate records of animal care Participates in Developing and implementing simulations and courses for various departments/companies to promote professional growth and education. Serves as a resource to staff for various teaching/learning strategies Solicit instructor and student feedback following simulation experience to analyze the impact of simulation on the learning process Design innovative ideas to improve technology and development of simulation center, develop strategies to enhance programs and services. Provide faculty instructors with instructional tools and technicians or administrative support to carry out simulator sessions, including setting up simulator and room, preparing educational materials and collecting feedback. Assists with scheduling, organization, ordering tissue/ supplies and creating quotes of requested internal & external simulation courses. Responsible for overall logistics of all courses. Submits requisitions and invoices for various orders and payments Follows chain of custody protocol when receiving/returning cadaveric specimens Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices for the Simulation Center Participate in RedCap data input & report running Supports Simulation Manager with data compiling for lab accreditation standards. Assists in recruitment and training of technical staff and other Simulation Center employees Maintenance and repair of simulator and clinical equipment Recommend and implement cost saving measures and identify key initiatives to target improvement of delivery of services Tours and orientation of the center as needed What you will need: Bachelor's Degree required Minimum of 4 years' clinical experience in the Operating room or Surgical simulation lab Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) [Optional] Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and an outgoing, courteous manner, used effectively to build strong interdepartmental relationships and maintain professional alliances with public individuals. Ability to be self-directed and proactive with work tasks. Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Apple computers. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Benefits:
