Position Summary: Endeavor Health's department of Pediatrics at Evanston Hospital is seeking applicants for a Research Coordinator. This position will be focused on supporting several investigator initiated, industry sponsored, and multi-site clinical trials. The Research Coordinator will work closely with the Research Manager, PIs, Research Nurse, and sponsors to execute study assessments and work toward project goals.

What you will do:

  • Coordinates all aspects of conducting clinical trials including: screening, enrollment, subject follow-up, completion of the case report form, and adverse event reports
  • Maintains accurate and complete documentation of signed informed consent, relevant IRB approvals, source documentation, Case Report Forms (CRF's), drug dispensing logs, and study related communication
  • Plans and coordinates patient schedule for study procedures, return visits, and study treatment schedules
  • Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are implemented and documented in accordance to study sponsor, primary investigator, and regulatory agency specifications
  • Prepares and maintains protocol submissions and revisions
  • Educates patients about study procedures to be performed, visit schedule, what to report between and during visits, and potential side effects
  • Performs assessments at visits and monitors for adverse events
  • Organizes and attends site visits from sponsors and other relevant study meetings
  • May obtain, possess, and transport specimens to appropriate laboratory according to established aseptic techniques
  • Coordinates and may participate in quality assurance reviews conducted by study sponsors, federal agencies, or specially designated review groups
  • Analyzes study-related documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutional review board documents, or progress reports
  • Report unanticipated problems (protocol deviations, adverse events, and serious adverse events)
  • Partner with PI(s), sponsor, compliance, clinical staff and manager to identify and improve more complex processes as it relates to the conduct of the research study
  • Ensure compliance with research protocols, and review and audit case report forms for completion and accuracy with source documents
  • Ensure adherence to study budgets and resolve billing issues in collaboration with finance and/or management staff
  • Interact with the principal investigator regularly, ensuring patient safety and adherence to proper study conduct
  • Maintains a collaborative relationship with Principal Investigators, Co-investigators, inter-departmental staff and research administration staff, in addition to representatives of outside sponsoring companies and/or agencies
  • Perform a variety of research, data entry and regulatory duties of a routine and technical nature related to departmental endeavors

What you will need:

Education:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as biology, social, or health science or related

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a research assistant in clinical trials research (or equivalent position) required, experience with drug and or device research preferred. Prior research coordinator experience preferred

Skills:

  • Experience facilitating recruitment and follow up strategies with clinic personnel and operational problem solving
  • Proficient knowledge of FDA, HSR, and GCP guidelines
  • Excellent organization, time management, problem solving and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to interact in a professional and sensitive manner with medical personnel, research subjects, research collaborators, community groups and other research staff
  • Must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision, and show initiative
  • Experience with EPIC and Workday preferred
