Job Description

Summary
The Office of Reservations and Events provides logistics and service support for events and meetings taking place throughout the University of Missouri campus seven days a week. This support includes setting up rooms, providing service to events, and assisting with technology as needed.

The Senior Events Assistant will support events throughout campus as needed. You may be the shift leader responsible for how and when work is completed during a shift, usually with a small crew of up to four per shift. You may also work solo supporting higher profile events. Duties could include overseeing room openings and closing as well as setting rooms and locations for future events. This will require personally moving tables, chairs, stage decks, and AV equipment on a regular basis. The Senior Events Assistant will interact with clients for event assistance including advanced AV support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the provided shift task list is completed on time and to quality standards.
  • Manage crew in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Provide AV check in service to help clients get their event started.
  • Act as onsite AV support for the duration of an event as needed. Monitor and respond to requests for help via radio, chat, text, or phone call. A mobile phone is provided to the crew lead while on shift.
  • Directly assist with general crew duties such as setting up tables and chairs as needed.
  • Work on additional projects as assigned.

Desired Skills

  • Customer service skills and experience directly working with clients to achieve their desired results in an event setting.
  • Experience with multitasking and delegating.
  • An eye for detail and adhering to standards.
  • The ability to troubleshoot AV issues quickly and accurately.
  • A valid driver's license and a willingness to drive a 16' straight box truck as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Reports to the Associate Director for Reservations & Events.

Shift

Weekly schedule will vary with event needs and can include nights and weekends, when events are light: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with EMS Reservation Software

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.50/hr - $23.00/hr

Grade: GGS-008
