SOS Temporary Staffing (SOSTS)

We are always recruiting to add to our talent pool of qualified, skilled candidates. We employ people of all legal working ages, including MU students and MU retirees. Many of our temporary workers are hired into full-time regular jobs at Mizzou. If your goal is full-time employment at the University, becoming an SOSTS temporary worker is an excellent way to get your foot in the door!
University policy limits the maximum number of hours some employees may work across all concurrent University jobs. For details see HR-101 Employee Status and Are there work-hour limits for retirees?

  • MU retirees may work up to 29.6 hours per week (0.74 FTE).
  • MU students may work up to 28 hours per week (0.70 FTE).
  • MU international students may work up to 20 hours per week (0.50 FTE).
Job Description

The University's temporary staffing needs change daily! These positions are typical of the requests we get for temporary crafts service staff:

  • Food service worker
  • Custodian
  • Floor care technician
  • Warehouse
  • Driver

Salary

Most assignments pay from $14.00 to $17.00 per hour. Pay varies from department to department and depends on duties, responsibilities, and the department's budget.

Shifts

Hours vary depending on the nature of each assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A stable work history
  • An excellent attendance record
  • Verifiable references
  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired (education or training beyond high school may be substituted for experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some experience working in a related field
  • Individuals with a Class E driver's license are encouraged to apply!
