Partners in Prevention is Missouri's higher education substance misuse consortium dedicated to creating healthy and safe college campuses. The coalition is comprised of 24 public and private college and university campuses across the state. We have focused on preventing high-risk and underage drinking among Missouri's college students and addressing other problematic health behaviors such as high risk driving behaviors and problem gambling. In addition, we also provide support and services to campuses across the state to prevent suicide on campus and support positive mental health among college students.

The Research Intern will provide crucial evaluation and research reporting services to Missouri Partners in Prevention campuses and the general community. Primary roles will include data entry and analysis, visual reporting and creation of campus-level presentations, communication with campus and community partners, and general evaluation services for various statewide programs. This position is virtual, with the possibility to connect with staff/campus partners in-person if the individual lives in Missouri.

Missouri Partners in Prevention's mission is to:

  • Create healthy and safe college campuses;
  • Reduce high-risk behaviors among Missouri college students;
  • Assist campuses statewide in implementing evidence-based strategies;
  • Create a communication network of health and well-being professionals across campuses;
  • And to provide training and technical assistance to campus professionals and students
Job Description

As the Research Intern, the selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

  • Creating written and visual evaluation reports in Microsoft Office on the Missouri Assessment of Collegiate Health Behaviors Survey, as well as PIP's other research initiatives (the Engage program, the College Behavior Profile, etc.)
  • Conducting data analysis of survey results using SPSS (Use of R also accepted)
  • Serving as a member of the Partners in Prevention research team and the Partners in Prevention staff overall. Projects that the intern works on may bridge between the research and prevention & implementation/planning team, and it is crucial that the intern be able to cross-collaborate and communicate clearly with all staff members
  • Communicate with campus partners and external researchers on PIP research practices, data analysis, and overall PIP functions

  • Position requires sitting/standing
  • Duties imply the use of a computer and other office technology involving fine finger movements.
  • Communicate orally and in writing with various audiences.
  • Ability to communicate and comprehend verbal and written information/instruction.
Shift

Average time commitment per week: 20 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient keyboarding skills are necessary.
  • Strong organization, customer service and communication skills
  • Computer experience, including word-processing and spreadsheets; preferred experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SPSS strongly preferred (experience with R/SAS.Python also acceptable)
  • Experience with building and disseminating surveys in Qualtrics also preferred, but not required.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $12.75 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis
