Position Summary

The University of
New Mexico's (UNM) Campus Capital & Space Planning (CCSP) seeks an
Associate Planner to join our vibrant, committed team of professionals who
support the built environment at UNM. The Associate Planner is responsible for supporting
the University Planner, Senior Planner(s), Planner, CCSP staff on capital and
space planning tasks and other Campus Environments & Facilities planning
efforts.

UNM's CCSP provides professional
support services to internal clients using best practices in capital project
planning, long-range planning, asset management, space planning, development,
and construction.

In addition to the Duties
and Responsibilities listed in the Position Description of the Associate Planner, the Associate Planner will:

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, events, and engagement related to planning and facility projects, PDC staff, and community engagement.
  • Assist with special studies and environmental design projects.
  • Maintain consistent design guidelines and standards.
  • Support Campus Environments & Facilities with a variety of Asset Management Program efforts and various committees and working groups related to the built environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

This position will
be critical in supporting CCSP's efforts to improve and maintain the built
environment. In addition to the Minimum Job Requirements, the ideal candidate will
have the following:

  • Degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or a related field
  • Excellent discipline-specific analytical abilities
  • Excellent discipline-specific communications skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent graphic and map production skills
  • Awareness of or interest in the relationship of planning with the physical environment, capital planning, real estate, economics, development, architecture, and governmental processes
  • Experience using Word, Excel, desktop publishing, graphic applications, and spreadsheets used in planning projects
  • Ability to learn UNM's software and asset management systems
  • Experience in the field of planning for educational communities
