Position Summary

UNM IT is looking for a manager of core IT Services with a
focus on teaching and learning applications who is passionate about empowering
students and faculty to participate in higher education. From the rapid
expansion of online and hybrid meetings that resulted from the COVID-19
pandemic to transformative impacts of artificial intelligence, technology is
playing an increasing role in the delivery of education, in classrooms,
computer labs, makerspaces, back offices, and online. Key to that successful
transformation is an awareness of the intersection of technology, pedagogy, and
higher education policy as we design and develop solutions to ensure that the
digital divide doesn't leave any members of our diverse student body behind.

The success of this position will depend on collaboration
and partnership. Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Technologies,
this position will provide operational management for multiple services
supporting teaching and learning at the university including applications that
are as diverse as Zoom, Kaltura, Course Evaluations, Opinio, Surveying
applications, and more. As part of the management team for the department, this
position is part of a mission-driven group that is dedicated to support of
digital transformation opportunities within the university, advances in student
success and faculty pedagogy approaches that leverage technology, and
educational access for students.

This position will have regular
interactions with students, faculty, and administrative support across a wide
variety of offices including the Accessibility Resource Center, Scheduling, the
Office of the Provost, all UNM colleges, schools, and branches, and many academic and administrative
departments that depend on UNM IT for services. This position will provide
leadership for a team that includes multiple grade 13-16 IT positions and several
student employees.

  • Maintains communication and collaboration with other parts of the IT service organization and functional areas of the university to ensure effective and efficient delivery of Academic Technology services across the university.
  • This role involves regular on-site engagement with diverse
