Position SummaryThe Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, at the University Of New Mexico Children's Hospital is recruiting a full time (1.0 FTE) Pediatric Gastroenterologist to cover in-patient and out-patient service. The position is open track; rank is dependent on qualifications and experience. The selected person would be the 4th faculty member in the PEDS Gastroenterology division. We see the full range of pediatric GI and hepatology patients from the most common clinical issues to the most complex and we serve a unique patient population including Hispanic and Native American communities. Peds GI staff also includes two outpatient APP's, four RN's, a dedicated Pediatric GI Dietician, an MA and an administrative assistant. Our outpatient practice is at three local sites with one outreach clinic. We are also funded by the state to fly and provide children's medical services clinics in distant cities. We have dedicated Pediatric OR block time with Pediatric Anesthesia support for endoscopies. We perform a wide breadth of GI procedures ranging from routine endoscopies, capsule endoscopy, impedance pH, Bravo, ARM, Breath test, etc. Opportunities for research are available. UNM comes under the scope of various loan repayment and loan forgiveness application opportunities for eligible providers. Application to these programs is required under each agency's application process, criteria, deadlines, and approval processes. Our practice is part of the University of New Mexico Children's Hospital which is a 160 bed hospital and we have a Pediatric Residency and the full range of specialties represented in Pediatrics as well as Pediatric surgical support. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: - BC/BE in Pediatric Gastroenterology. - Able to obtain Medical licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with clinical gastroenterology practice. - Experience teaching residents and medical students. - A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
