Job Description:

The Ceramics Area in the Department of Art is seeking a work-study qualified student to work in the Arita Porcelain Vessels studio. Experience in ceramics is preferred along with the desire to learn something totally new. The job includes working with students to keep the studio clean, organized and safe. This encompasses: Assisting mopping floors, the recycling porcelain process, glaze mixing, filling humidifiers, removing dust wet-wiping all surfaces, loading kilns and unloading kilns. The hours are flexible with some weekend hours.


Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Available to work weekends.
  • Experience with ceramics helpful.
  • Knowledge of glaze mixing helpful.
  • Basic knowledge of firing electric and gas kilns helpful.
  • Knowledge of shop safety procedures including wheel and kiln safety helpful.
  • Keen interest in learning new cultural practices and processes in ceramics ie. porcelain.
