Greenwich Hospital is seeking a Full Time Clinical Pathologist or Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist, to assist in the delivery of high- quality patient care in Anatomic Pathology and the Clinical Laboratory.

    Here you will

    • Provide direct patient care in the form of clinical laboratory oversight, which may include producing anatomic and clinical pathology consultations and reports, as appropriate for qualifications.
    • Provide consultations to patients in areas of special competence.
    • Direct specific areas of the Clinical laboratory
    • Assist the Director with quality management activities throughout the laboratory
    • Maintain knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and standards/ regulations of applicable inspection agencies (CMS, JCAHO, CAP, etc.)
  • 1. Provides direct patient care, producing anatomic and clinical pathology consultations and reports in rotation with other staff pathologists. Pathologists are available 24/7 for consultations with medical staff and laboratory testing personnel.
  • 2. Provides specialty pathology consultations to patients in areas of special competence. These may include dermatopathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, breast, genitourinary, gastrointestinal and gynecologic pathology and/or other areas of specialty expertise as needed. Serves as a consultant to other pathologists in his/her areas of expertise.
  • 3. Provides high quality anatomic and clinical pathology services in a time-effective manner within turnaround time guidelines and with accurate procedural billing. Produces clear and concise final reports and communicates appropriately with referring physicians.
  • 4. Assists the Director with quality management activities in Anatomic Pathology and throughout the laboratory. Assumes primary responsibility for monitoring at least one area of peer performance. Undertakes supervision of technical staff in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as needed and delegated by the Director.
  • 5. Promotes an environment of service excellence in the delivery of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology services.
  • 6. Performs all patient care in an ethical and professional manner.
  • 7. Maintain professional skills with on-going continuing education.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine and Board Certified/Eligible in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

EXPERIENCE

Fellowship training or demonstrable special interest/ expertise in a relevant subspecialty area of Pathology with at least 3 years experience is preferred, though not required.

Minimum qualifications include an MD or equivalent, board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or Clinical Pathology only, and possession of, or eligibility for, licensure in Connecticut and New York

LICENSURE

Maintains current physician licensure in Connecticut and New York

SPECIAL SKILLS

Appropriate training and experience in areas required to provide appropriate service for Greenwich Hospital patients and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Maintains appropriate level of knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and standards/ regulations of applicable inspection agencies (CMS, JCAHO, CAP among others). Strong and effective communication skills are required to effectively interact with colleagues, staff, physicians or other clients and patients.
