Position Summary
Organization: YMCA of Central New Mexico Location: Various Locations In Albuquerque - Heights to Westside An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST have a Work-Study Award POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Program Director and in accordance with the purpose, policy and principles of the YMCA of Central New Mexico, the School Age Childcare Assistant provides leadership to the YMCA's Out of School time (OST) program. This position is responsible for assisting the Program Director in all phases of the day-to-day operation of the OST programs, including but not limited to fiscal management, program development, risk management, administration, and planning. This positions area of program responsibilities includes holiday camps, Parent's Night Out, and other family events. In addition the incumbent will serve at various tasks at the branch level as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Program Development Assist in the supervision of Program Staff as determined by Program Director. Monitor and evaluate all programs in keeping with Association and Branch goals and objectives as directed by Program Director. Administer appropriate record keeping and reporting systems Maintain knowledge of all branch programs. Assist in achieving annual program growth as per Annual Performance Plans. Work with Program Director in areas related to program development and implementation.
Membership Development Assist the Executive Director in the development, implementation, monitoring and required adjustments of the Horn Branch's Annual Membership Operating Plans. Be an active participant in membership development initiatives at the branch and association level.
Fiscal Management Work with the Program Director in the implementation of a supplies operational budget. Work with the Program Director to monitor income and expenses in comparison to budgeted projections, and make adjustments as needed. Be a team player in maintaining proper branch and association fiscal status.
Volunteer Development Support Branch volunteer development efforts in identifying, referring, and working with volunteers where appropriate. Provide staff support to all Horn branch board committees.
Administration/Human Resources Assist Program Director with recruitment, hiring, training and evaluations of program staff and program volunteers as directed by the Program Director. Work with the Program Director to complete duties in a timely manner as set by corporate standards.
Fund Raising Participate in the annual Support Campaign Assist and participate in special events related to the Support Campaign
Facility Participate in branch and association efforts related to properties and maintenance of equipment as directed by the Program Director. Assist with the Branch Risk Management reviews and risk management plans of action. Report equipment and building maintenance needs in a timely manner
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

QUALIFICATIONS: Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law (if the state sets requirements. The YMCA should establish minimum qualification standards if the state has no requirements). Knowledge in the area of school age curriculum development, lesson planning, and age-appropriate activities. Be able to develop and implement curriculums to include Character Development. At least 18 years of age (The minimum may be higher depending on state law). CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date. 2 years' experience working with children in a developmental setting. Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Previous experience with diverse populations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Able to negotiate stairs and lift 40 pounds. Able to negotiate stairs. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
