Position Summary
The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Family & Community Medicine seeks qualified and dynamic Family Medicine Physicians who are interested in joining its faculty and are passionate about service, education and leadership. Candidates hired for this position will provide patient care in an outpatient setting and will support departmental education and scholarship efforts.
This position will include outpatient care at the UNM Lobo Care Clinic, with educational duties including teaching UNM medical students, physician assistant students, and UNM Family Medicine residents and fellows.
The UNM Lobo Care Clinic provides episodic same day and next day access to outpatient appointments for UNM, UNMH and UNMMG employees, their dependents, and some retirees, as well as primary care to resident and fellow physicians, and their adult dependents.
Services at the Lobo Care Clinic include urgent care type visits such as management of acute orthopedic, respiratory, psychiatric, and genitourinary problems; STI screening; wellness visits; acute child and adolescent care, ages 6 and up, including pre-participation sports physicals; and short-term management of chronic health conditions such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, family planning, depression, allergies, and asthma.

About Albuquerque, New Mexico Albuquerque, NM is a beautiful city with Sandia Mountains to the east and mesa to the west. At more than a mile-high elevation, this high desert environment provides beautiful sunny days but also the variety of all four seasons. It is ideal for outdoor activities and sports all year-round including running, hiking, biking and skiing. Albuquerque is 1 hour from Santa Fe, NM and 2.5 hours from Taos, NM, both world famous for their art and culture. The State of New Mexico is multicultural and diverse with 19 indigenous native pueblos, Navajo reservation and three Apache tribal lands. We have excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, numerous cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.
Salary: salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO;
- Board
eligible/certified in Family Medicine by the ABFM or AOA or in General Internal Medicine by date of hire; - Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience providing efficient
general medical care including prevention, wellness and life style medicine for ages 6 and up; - Experience teaching residents and
medical students; - Interest in caring for underserved
populations;
- Experience in developing outpatient
quality projects;
- A demonstrated commitment to
diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
