Position Summary

The Earth Data Analysis Center (EDAC) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) is currently looking for a full-time Compliance Assistant who possesses strong motivation, attention to detail, and organizational skills to join the UNM Traffic Safety Center (UNM TSC), which is a collaboration with the New Mexico Department of Transportation's Traffic Safety Division. The primary mission of the UNM TSC is to implement programs focusing on Driver Education, Driver Safety Education, Traffic Safety, and Ignition Interlock technologies, all aimed at ensuring the safety of New Mexico's roads.

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the selected individual will coordinate, oversee, and/or perform a wide variety of administrative and compliance support activities for the UNM TSC. This individual will also take the lead in managing email, mail, and phone correspondence pertaining to compliance and UNM TSC's programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assists in conducting
investigations of compliance claims of varying complexities and assists in
preparing letters of determination of complaints with conclusions.

2. Assists with facilitating
resolutions at the lowest administrative level when possible; assists in
coordinating activities and preparing information to assist the Program Manager
and/or Program Specialists of UNM TSC in responding to client requests.

3. Assists the Program Manager
and/or Program Specialists of UNM TSC in gathering and analyzing evidentiary
information necessary to evaluate compliance claims.

4. Assists the Program Manager
and/or Program Specialists of UNM TSC in researching current compliance
regulations on a wide variety of compliance practices as appropriate.

5. Drafts and prepares written
documentation and correspondence for the UNM TSC; screens and evaluates
incoming and outgoing correspondence and prepares responses as appropriate.

6. Assist the Program Manager of
UNM TSC in managing various aspects of the driver correspondence school
program. This may include coordinating enrollment procedures, monitoring
student progress, communicating with students, ensuring compliance with
regulatory requirements, and evaluating the effectiveness of instructional
materials.

7. Organizes and facilitates
meetings and training sessions for UNM TSC. Oversees the maintenance of files
and applicable databases.

8. Performs miscellaneous
job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
