Position Summary

The Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a Unit Administrator 2 to be the division administrative lead for our dynamic and multi-disciplinary team. This individual will oversee the daily operations, to include:

  • Faculty contracts
  • Dual appointments/Volunteer Faculty appointments
  • Post-doc, faculty and staff recruitment and hiring
  • Maintain staff personnel files and guide in the supervision of administrative staff
  • Monitor finance files and track restricted and unrestricted funds with Accounting
  • Maintain databases to ensure proper labor allocations for all faculty and staff
  • Develop, prepare, analyze and review budgets as required for various funding agencies
  • Track and maintain records of faculty teaching
  • Supervise other administrative staff

The Department of Internal Medicine is a large, progressive department with a diverse staff working in dedicated teams to provide quality work in an organized, effective and efficient manner through innovation, training, and education. Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 2 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in project management, budget development and incentive payments
  • High level experience tracking and managing financial systems
  • Familiarity with UNM Systems such as Banner 9, Chrome River and UNMJobs
  • Experience managing personnel to include hiring and project oversight
  • Experience with contract and grant management and/or research administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
