Position Summary The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The primary appointment would be in the Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine. Specifically, the Department is recruiting a fellowship trained Neuro Critical Care Anesthesiologist (NeuroIntensivist) with either expertise or fellowship training in Neuro Anesthesiology. The selected candidate must be Neuro Critical Care fellowship trained through the United Council on Neurological Subspecialties (UCNS). The position will provide 8 weeks of day Neuro ICU coverage, 4 weeks of night ICU cross coverage and 20 weeks of operating room coverage. As an anesthesiologist the candidate will demonstrate expertise in staffing complex neurosurgical cases including tumor, vascular, interventional, complex spine and functional neurosurgery, in addition to trauma, general, vascular and other types of operating and non-operating room procedures. The candidate must have a distinct interest in training anesthesiology residents and teaching medical students. Additionally, the selected candidate must demonstrate a willingness to collaborate in clinical research endeavors and comfort working in a care team model. The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNM HSC) is a tertiary referral center and the only Level 1 Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center for the state of New Mexico - an ethnically and medically diverse population. The University is rapidly expanding in the fields of advanced neurology and neurosurgical care and is seeking to build upon existing expertise. The city of Albuquerque is rich in history and offers skiing, mountain biking, hiking, any much more. Albuquerque is the annual host city for the International Balloon Fiesta and enjoys 340 days of sunshine as well as four distinct seasons. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1. Must hold unrestricted medical license 2. Must have a M.D. or equivalent degree 3. Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology or within three years of residency and active in the certification process 4. Completion of UCNS accredited fellowship 5. Ability to work clinical call coverage Preferred Qualifications: 1. Resident teaching experience 2. Completion of Neuro Critical Care Fellowship through the United Council on neurological subspecialties (UCNS) 3.
