Position Summary

The Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Preventive Medicine (EBPM), within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a Research Scientist 3 to support research data collection, management, and statistical analysis. The successful candidate will have an MS or PhD in Statistics or a closely related field and at least one year of experience working as a statistical programmer/analyst. We are seeking expertise in data management techniques and report generation, preferably in a data coordinating center or clinical research organization. Familiarity with REDCap database and demonstrated experience using statistical software, including SAS, is required. Experience using multiple statistical methods used in clinical and public health research including regression methods (e.g., longitudinal data analysis, multivariable logistic regression, and survival analysis) as well as SAS certification is preferred. Knowledge of clinical trial design is desired. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. **For full consideration, your cover letter must address the the qualifications listed above. You may be a recent MS graduate, but you must be able to demonstrate at least one year of relevant experience.

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using statistical software for data management and reporting
  • Experience working as a statistical programmer/analyst
  • Experience and expertise using a variety of statistical software packages such as SAS (preferred) or R
  • Experience developing, working with, and managing REDCap databases and data collection forms
  • Documented experience using multiple statistical methods for clinical and public health research including regression methods (e.g., longitudinal data analysis, multivariable logistic regression, and survival analysis)
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time to complete multiple simultaneous assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with study personnel through email and over the phone.
