Position Summary

The Ceramics Laboratory located in Masley Hall in the Department of Art is seeking student lab monitors to help supervise and facilitate open lab hours. Monitors will be responsible for following and enforcing safety protocols for all areas in the lab and perform routine cleanings and up-keep of the lab during and at the end of each open lab. Must have basic knowledge of shop safety practices including proper damp method cleaning, safety protocol for kilns, wheels, extruder and other equipment.


Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of ART 168, Intro to Ceramics and ARTS 268 Ceramics: Materials and Aesthetics
  • Knowledge of glaze mixing and glaze application methods.
  • Basic knowledge of firing both electric and gas kilns
  • Inventory of glaze and glaze materials
  • Knowledge of shop safety procedures including wheel and kiln safety
