Position Summary

The UNM Department of Pediatrics, Section for Child Safety & Well-Being, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Program Coordinator with strong adaptability skills. The successful candidate will be instrumental in advancing educational and training initiatives for UNM learners, residents, and fellows. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders from various sectors and active engagement in the daily activities of learners dedicated to enhancing child safety, preventing child maltreatment, and promoting positive outcomes for children and families across New Mexico.

As a Program Coordinator, you will play an integral role in:



  1. Providing program support to the SafeCareNMECHO Team Education and Training Center Executive Director and Program Manager including managing schedules
  2. Screening and handling telephone communications from our regional partners and outside the region regarding the SafeCareNMECHO Training Center and Project ECHO activities
  3. Organizing and facilitating monthly video conference calls, in person meetings, training events in New Mexico, and taking and disseminating notes from these meetings
  4. Providing support for SafeCareNMECHO conferences
  5. Assisting with writing policies and procedures and will field questions
  6. Creating and disseminating marketing, social media, and event materials in collaboration with Project ECHO's social media manager
  7. Maintaining files for the various SafeCareNMECHO Education and Training Center projects and helping organize all required documentation to and from our funders and regional partner sites
  8. Creating reports for internal staff regarding SafeCareNMECHO sessions and programmatic activities
  9. Assisting with the integration of special projects with internal project lead and the external project leads at our partner sites to ensure consistent communication and program planning is achieved
  10. Purchase promotional items and disseminates to partner sites.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working on a team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Position requires high attention to detail.
  • Experience working the Child Abuse/Sex Abuse medical field.
  • Conference planning experience.
  • Experience with MS Access.
  • Three or more years of experience working in a pediatric specialty clinic (UNM, UNMH, UNMMG).
  • Experience with UNM Cerner, Power Chart, and patient confidentiality policies.
