Requisition ID req30773 Working Title Pathologists' Assistant Position Grade 15 Position Summary The Department of Pathology seeks to hire an on-call Pathologists' Assistant. Our team of 11 pathologists and 3 pathologists' assistants serve the University of New Mexico Hospital and associated clinics, an affiliated hospital (Sandoval Regional Medical Center/SRMC), and an affiliated outpatient surgical center (Outpatient Surgery and Imaging Services/OSIS). The Pathologists' Assistant will work primarily at the 500 bed University Hospital associated with the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center with an annual volume of approximately 21,000 specimens, on an intermittent basis. The workload varies from simple to complex specimens, intraoperative consults, gross photography, triaging tissue for research and tumor banking, and special studies. This position is needed on an on-call basis, for full-day (or occasionally full week) coverage at UNM Hospital, and at SRMC for occasional frozen section coverage. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited Pathologist Assistant program or in a medical or scientific field; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
