The Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a term Research Coordinator to work at the
UNM site of a clinical research trial funded by the National Institute of Drug
Abuse Clinical Trials Network to evaluate Optimizing Retention, Duration, and
Discontinuation Strategies for Opioid Use Disorder Pharmacotherapy. This study
will 1) test strategies to improve OUD pharmacotherapy treatment retention and
to improve outcomes among patients who have been successfully stabilized on OUD
medications and want to stop medication; and 2) identify predictors of
successful outcome and develop a stage model of relapse risk.

This position will involve a variety
of work, including field activities such as enrolling participants and
conducting surveys, data management such as creating data collection forms and
performing quality control checks, and administrative duties such as
maintaining supply levels and scheduling meetings. Recruitment and retention are
significant activities and this position will require the ability to create and
maintain relationships with various community, clinical and government organizations. This position will also involve communication
with multiple stakeholders, including the lead study team, the clinical
coordinating center, and the data coordinating center. This will involve communication on database
updates, quality control, working with external study monitors and coordinating
internal study team meetings and schedules.
This position will be based within the UNM Alcohol and Substance Abuse
clinic. The ideal candidate will be someone who is
looking to learn a variety of skills, is well-organized and is comfortable
working with vulnerable populations.

The Department of Internal Medicine is a large, progressive

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Experience conducting research activities such as gaining informed consent,
    data collection/instrument administration, recruitment and retention
    activities
  • Good
    Clinical Practice certification
  • Experience with REDCap
  • Experience
    with data entry and quality control
  • Experience contributing to reports and study updates
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Experience providing administrative and fiscal support


Additional Requirements
This position will require time spent in UNM clinics. Some travel within New Mexico may be required.
