Position Summary

The Engineering Student Success Center is seeking an
energetic, highly motivated individual to lead the UNM School of Engineering's
recruitment and enrollment efforts. The
qualified individual will be responsible for recruiting students from
throughout New Mexico as well from out-of-state locations.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with the
ability to prepare and deliver small and large group presentations. The incumbent should expect a great deal of
personal interaction on a regular basis. The position requires a high degree of energy and professionalism as
he/she will work independently, and sometimes as a member of a team, when
representing the University and the School of Engineering at recruitment
events. There will be many times when it
is necessary f
or the individual to work in the evenings and/or weekends
depending on scheduled recruitment events or activities.

  • Represents UNM across New Mexico and surrounding states to
    visit middle schools, high schools, and community colleges for the purpose of
    speaking with individual students and groups in order to recruit students to
    the UNM School of Engineering;
  • Coordinates and oversees the year-round Engineering campus
    visits and tours for middle school and high students interested in pursuing
    Engineering or Computer Science degrees. This includes planning for school
    visits to UNM, coordinating UNM information sessions, conducting demo
    presentations to elementary, middle school and high school students, and/or
    providing career and academic counseling about educational and degree programs
    in the School of Engineering;
  • Recruits and provides support to outreach and summer
    programs. This includes creating promotional material, visiting schools and
    collecting and assessing applications from high school students;
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports enrollment data for
    undergraduate recruitment efforts for the School of Engineering. Analyzes
    information on recruitment and retention and develops strategies for program
    development;
  • Creates resource materials, packages, distributes student
    recruitment materials;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • Ability to travel by vehicle or air, locally, statewide and/or out of state.
  • A valid driver's license, or ability to obtain a valid driver's license within thirty days of hire, is required for this job.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • College/university student recruitment experience
  • Knowledge
    of Engineering and Computer Science curriculums at a university/college level
  • At
    least 2 years experience employed in a higher education setting
  • Familiar with UNM programs
  • Experience managing and making business travel arrangements with the use of a corporate credit card
  • Experience with UNM Purchasing Card Policies & Procedures
  • Experience submitting Chrome River reports


Additional Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs in order to carry recruitment material on and off campus. Must possess current valid drivers license.
