Operating Room Assistant - 40 hour Rotating Days - BWH Operating Room GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Operating Room Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of PCA. The ORA is responsible for transporting patients, cleaning O.R.s, maintaining a clean environment, moving equipment, delivery of specimens, second scrubbing PRN, and other duties as assigned. The ORA functions as a member of the Perioperative Nursing Team who has specific knowledge, skills and training to work in an Operating Room Environment. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a sterile and substerile environment requiring wearing surgical scrub attire which includes, but is not limited to scrubs, hat, mask, gloves, booties, gown and goggles. There may be times when the temperature is required to be very warm (<80 degrees) for hours at a time. Work is underground with no windows or exposure to light. There are areas with some physical discomforts due to unpleasant odors and high noise level. Handling of body fluids; sharps and tissue occurs frequently. Therefore strict adherence to precautions is mandatory and carelessness could result in exposure and/or injury. The environment is fast-paced, high stressed, demanding and intense atmosphere.
