Sign-On Agreement Terms



  • 12-month work commitment
  • Half payment distribution at 90 days and remaining half at 1 year postdate of hire
  • Agreement authorizes repayment if work commitment not fulfilled
  • No eligibility for internal transfers, individuals who have already accepted offers or internal employees of Mass General Brigham system
  • Pro-rated based on hours worked per week



GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT

MGH Non-certified licensed pharmacy technicians serve a vital role in the provision of patient care at MGH, practicing in a variety of settings and contributing to a safe and effective medication-use process. MGH Non-certified pharmacy licensed technicians are a key component of the pharmacy's medication preparation and distribution system.

Working under the general direction of the technician supervisor, pharmacists, and Area Pharmacy Manager, the non-certified pharmacy licensed technician may rotate throughout various assigned areas. They are responsible for, but not limited to filling medication orders, answering phones, attending staff meetings, providing support to pharmacists, maintaining the safe handling and integrity of medications.

MGH Non-Certified Pharmacy Licensed Technicians do have some limitations, per the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy and MGH, in the tasks they are able to perform until they are nationally certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). MGH Non-Certified Pharmacy Licensed Technicians will be required to be nationally certified through PTCB within one year of their date of hire.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ambulatory Clinic Infusion:



  • Prepare intravenous (IV) chemotherapy, investigational drugs, hazardous medications, and non-hazardous medications
  • Adhere to safety requirements for handling hazardous medications in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain the IV hoods, the negative and positive pressure compounding rooms, and the segregated compounding areas
  • Perform quality control checks and daily, weekly, and monthly assigned cleaning tasks in all compounding areas
  • Maintain inventory and rotate medications and supply to upkeep with need and expiration dates
  • Complete deliveries of hazardous and non-hazardous medications to various hospital and clinic locations.
  • Order and receive deliveries of hazardous and non-hazardous medications.
  • Additional duties as assigned and/or as opportunities arise.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

MA State Pharmacy Technician license required

1 + year of experience as a Pharm Tech in a Hospital setting preferred
