UMKC Police Department

Job Description

UMKC is hiring for unarmed Security Officers for the Health Sciences and Volker Campuses. These part-time positions will assist the University Police Officers in providing a safe environment and prevention of crime. The Security Officers will patrol the campus buildings and grounds to deter crime (primarily the University libraries) and performing the following duties:

  • Assists with the opening and closing procedures of buildings and classrooms
  • Assists with non-law enforcement calls for service
  • Be visible to the University community and assist them as necessary
  • Provide safety escorts
  • Operate a handheld radio to call for police assistance as needed
  • Perform other non-law enforcement duties as assigned
Shift

Shifts will vary, some evening, weekend, and/or holiday hours are required.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

A valid driver's license is required

Anticipated Hiring Range

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, hourly-paid position at a rate of $18.00 per hour.

Shift differential of $0.70 per hour for eligible shifts (see HR-213 Shift Differential for more information)
