Job Description

The UMKC School of Dentistry is taking applications for a Sterile Processing Supervisor (Dental Services Supervisor). The Central Sterilization Team is responsible for sterilizing and disinfecting the instruments and equipment used in the various Dental Clinics within the School of Dentistry - we see over 200 patients per day!
Successful candidates will be patient-focused individuals with proven leadership experience, and the ability to build relationships within all levels of the organization.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervision and training of the Central Sterilization Clinical Technician Team, maintaining an efficient flow of work and desirable levels of productivity.
  • Facilitate performance reviews for Clinical Technicians, monitor time and attendance, and coach/develop Clinical Technicians, as needed.
  • issue corrective actions, applying University policies and department guidelines.
  • Counsel and recommend formal corrective action regarding performance.
  • Analyze and revise central sterilization operations, methods, and procedures in order to ensure quality services are being provided.
  • Complete weekly biological spore testing as well as periodic performance of cleaning and maintenance on all large equipment.
  • Ensure all staff complete University annual compliance training as well as training specific to the School of Dentistry
  • Assist unit leadership with preparation and development of of department budgets, guidelines, and/or work standards
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve operational matters
  • Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory and/or regulatory compliance experience in a Dental Office or Dental Clinic
  • Previous experience as a Dental Assistant
  • Ability to instruct dental students in preparing them to effectively work with a dental assistant in complete auxiliary utilization
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or successful completion of the Missouri Test of Basic Dental Assistant Skills (MBDA) Exam
  • Certification by the Certifying Board of the American Dental Assistant's Association
Anticipated Hiring Range

$51,875 - $59,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
