Job Description:

UMKC Admissions Department is accepting applications for an Admissions Transfer Specialist. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Transfer & Adult Learning Center, this position is responsible to help the admissions office meet enrollment goals and objectives, develop programs and initiatives to support the transition of admitted transfer students and adult learner students to UMKC, as well as support the Office of Admissions in meeting its goals.

Duties Include:

  • Maintain a strong knowledge of UMKC's programs, policies, awards, values, and distinctions.
  • Develop, plan, and coordinate visits including but not limited to, community college visits, community events, communication plans, and other initiatives focused on supporting admitted transfer and adult learner students through the yield and academic advising process.
  • Help support the Center for Transfer Students and Adult Learners.
  • Serve as the point of contact for transfer and adult learner students who have confirmed their admission.
  • Respond to prospective and admitted student inquiries through email, phone, or in-person communications.
  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with students, families, school/college counselors/advisors, and other school, agency, and community organizations.
  • Communicate information about UMKC's requirements for admission, including requirements for specific academic programs.
  • Communicate with admitted students regarding next steps in academic advising and class enrollment.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal/presentation skills, and present information both in person and on virtual campus visits and 1:1 appointments.
  • Communicate financial aid and scholarship information, deadlines, and processes.
  • Regularly travel to the schools with the greatest potential for enrollment to provide onsite academic advising.
  • Communicate with students, both admitted and denied to the university. Counsel applicants on eligibility for admission.
  • Maintain accurate reports related to visits, enrolled data, and communication efforts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external constituents, and interface with various campus partners concerning student admissions and enrollment.
  • Function with a high level of autonomy, including setting accountability goals, while keeping appropriate stakeholders informed of progress to goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Shift

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with some evenings, weekends and overnight travel

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Previous recruitment and or advising experience preferred

Anticipated Hiring Range

$19.25 - $21.71 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
