General Summary:

The primary function of this position is to assist with the implementation of clinical software projects. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of a Qualified Medical Physicist as they work through each project. They will collaborate with other physicists, software developers, research scientists, information technology professionals and clinicians to help deliver production quality software solutions to clinical operations. For suitable and motivated candidates, this position may be an excellent step towards a career as a medical physicist or clinical software developer. The position reports to the Director of Clinical Physics Operations, and ultimately to the Chief of Medical Physics & Biophysics.



Principal duties and responsibilities

A. Project management

The candidate will work with the team to perform the following tasks during development and roll out of each software project:

1) Assist the project owner in planning and executing each phase of the project

2) Ensure work is progressing and any road blocks are being removed

3) Ensure the project is documented appropriately

4) Ensure appropriate version controls are in place and followed

5) Ensure an appropriate testing strategy is in place and followed

6) Assist with user training and gathering user feedback



B. Software development and IS related duties


  • Work with IS to assist in the purchase and provisioning of server or cloud platforms
  • Install and deploy software systems on the server or in the cloud
  • Test and troubleshoot server or cloud based software systems
  • Write scripts and compiled software to connect existing software systems together to allow for seamless transfer of data and automated workflows
  • Use and develop application programming interfaces



C. Other duties

1) Assist in the training of artificial intelligence and machine learning models

2) DICOM file exchange and image processing

3) Statistical data analysis

4) Scientific writing

5) Preparation and delivery of professional presentations

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Minimum formal education is a Bachelors' degree preferably in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or physics. Graduate level education is an advantage.
