Description

Working under general supervision from lab members, executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. Troubleshoots and implements modifications on existing techniques, as appropriate. May suggest alternate technical routes and suggest options based upon research in the literature. Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using proper techniques. This is a great opportunity for a student who is looking for research experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Students involved in this project will be exposed to basic and advanced immunologic techniques such as FACS-sorting of immune cells, high-dimensional immunophenotyping of monocytes by multi-color flow cytometry, cellular assays, real-time PCR, ELISA, immunofluorescence microscopy, as well as transcriptional profiling of cells using bulk RNA and single-cell RNA-sequencing. Students will also be involved in the analysis and interpretation of the data.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Background in Immunology
  • Experience in cellular assays, flow cytometry and real-time PCR


SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:


  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interact with a variety of people and on the telephone.
  • Strong team player and can communicate well within an interdisciplinary team.
  • High level of organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and protocol requirements.


WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Normal laboratory environment.
  • May be exposed, under controlled conditions, to hazardous materials.


SUPERVISOR:


  • The student will be supervised on a daily basis by Dr. Kolypetri.
