Description

Works under general supervision on a large-scale, longitudinal study in multiple sclerosis. Responsible for subject recruitment, subject enrollment, data collection, and data management.


Qualifications

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recruits, screens, enrolls, obtains informed consent, and follows subjects as part of a large-scale, longitudinal natural history study.
2. Abstracts medical information from patient records and interviews.
3. Prepares monthly calendars and reminders.
4. Organizes study blood draws and collection of other biologic samples.
5. Administers and scores battery of cognitive and psychosocial tests.
6. Maintains patient study files, electronic study database, and tracking system for study participants.
7. Assists with Institutional Review Board submissions, including annual reviews and study amendments.
8. Performs frequent audits to ensure the integrity of study data.
9. Prepares enrollment updates, participates in study meetings, and prepares study data for analysis and publication.
10. Prepares study kits, keeps track of inventory, and orders study supplies.
11. Serves as backup for several investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies. Backup responsibilities include recruiting and enrolling patients, obtaining informed consent, scheduling visits, and administering cognitive tests.
12. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or BA
New graduate with relevant course or project work

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

1. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with study participants.
2. Good oral and written communication skills.
3. Knowledge of clinical research protocols.
4. Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc.
5. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
6. Careful attention to detail.
7. Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects' rights and individual needs.
