The Role

The Materials Supervisor (Stockroom/Receiving or Shipping Department) works in the warehouse and production facility and coordinates staff activities in the daily receipt, stocking, inventorying, storing, pulling, packing, and processing of goods for both internal/external customers. The Materials Supervisor initiates and maintains standard work (and other departmental procedures) to achieve inventory integrity and improve the Materials Group's overall Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives. This is accomplished using Lean Tools to identify problems, recommend solutions and drive implementation via continuous improvement activities.

Day Shift: Mon - Friday, occasional Saturday hours based on business need.

What You Will Do

  • Identify, participate, and implement continuous improvement activities impacting overall quality, cost, and delivery initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain standard work documentation and other AMI procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Perform 5S, Standard Work, Stand-in-Circle, and Inventory audits to identify opportunities of improvement.
  • Perform extensive root cause analysis using our 8 Step Problem Solving Tools and implement corrective action measures.
  • Interview, hire, train employees and plan, assign, direct work; appraise performance; reward and disciplineemployees; manage time and attendance; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Create, measure, analyze and disseminate data to support SQCD measurements.
  • Participate in and facilitate the implementation of Safety and Ergonomic improvements, Idea Generation System, T-Card (5s) sustainment, and audit activities.
  • Develop and manage departmental budget requirements to include capital requisitions.
  • Maintain, evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements in material requirements to drive down inventory levels.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of inventory and inventory control activities to include cycle count program.

What You Will Need to Be Successful

  • Associates degree and min 4 years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years of experience as a lead or supervisor in a distribution or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to operate a Forklift required
  • Understanding of shipping documentation such as Freight Bills, Packing Slips, Certificate of Origin and all other documentation related to shipments both internationally and domestic, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience with ERP Systems, SAP experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a cross functional team environment.
  • Ability to coach and contribute to a positive team environment, morale and commitments to team goals and objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills: ability to maintain constructive working relationships, consider others' views and welcome feedback.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain/Logistics or related field preferred.
  • Medical Device or ISO/FDA regulated industry, preferred.
  • Direct hands-on experience in an MRP systems environment preferred.
  • Prior Supervisory experience desired.
  • Prior Materials Management experienced preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience preferred
