Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago seek a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator up to the rank of Professor who is interested in understanding more regarding physiologic regulation and the autonomic system in pediatrics. In particular, utilizing heart rate variability and the regulation of respiratory drive as indices for disease, we are studying children with non-conforming autonomic input in our unique program, the Center for Autonomic Medicine in Pediatrics (CAMP). Faculty will become part of a novel program combining Sleep Medicine with the emerging discipline of Pediatric Autonomic Medicine. In our state-of-the-art CAMP facility, children with disrupted autonomic regulation are studied, interventions objectively evaluated, and therapeutic home plans designed. We have a dedicated day room and a dedicated night room for testing, as well as a pediatric autonomic testing room including a tilt table, thermoregulatory chamber with infrared temperature thermal scan, pupillometry, as well as more traditional testing (Valsalva, heart rate-deep breathing, quantitative sweat test) to study autonomic function and (dys)regulation. The MSM accredited Sleep Medicine Center at Lurie Children's Hospital maintains comprehensive programs in all aspects of clinical pediatric sleep medicine, including a 6 bed outpatient sleep laboratory and 2 fully attended inpatient study capabilities. Coupled with the mentorship of Dr. Debbie Weese-Mayer in CAMP and Dr. Stephen Sheldon in Sleep Medicine, faculty would have a unique opportunity to study Sleep, Autonomic Medicine and Circadian Control and conduct clinical and translational research under the guidance of these two Professors of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Outpatient clinical responsibilities to be determined but not to exceed 1 half day/week at the Lurie site.
